🌱 Tools and Materials for Growing Bird's Eye Chili

Materials:

  1. Chili seeds – choose high-quality seeds (F1 hybrid or superior local varieties).
  2. Planting medium – a mix of soil, compost/manure, and husk/organic matter (1:1:1).
  3. Fertilizer – compost, manure, NPK, or organic liquid fertilizer.
  4. Water – for regular watering.
  5. Natural pesticides/fungicides – optional, for pest and disease control.

Tools:

  1. Small shovel or hand trowel – for digging and mixing soil.
  2. Pots or polybags – if not planting directly in the ground.
  3. Watering can or sprayer – for watering the plants.
  4. Gardening gloves – optional, to keep your hands clean.

Steps to Grow Bird's Eye Chili

1. Seed Germination (Optional)

  • Soak the seeds in warm water for 3–5 hours.
  • Sow the seeds in a seedling tray or small container filled with compost-soil mix.
  • Wait 7–10 days for the seeds to sprout.
  • Transplant the seedlings once they are about 5–10 cm tall (around 3–4 weeks old).

2. Preparing the Growing Medium

  • Mix soil, compost, and husk/rice hull in a 1:1:1 ratio.
  • Fill pots, polybags, or garden beds with the mixture.

3. Planting

  • Make a hole about 5–10 cm deep.
  • Carefully plant the seedling into the hole.
  • Cover it with soil and gently press to firm.

4. Care and Maintenance

  • Watering: Once or twice a day (morning and evening).
  • Fertilizing: Apply fertilizer every two weeks.
  • Weeding: Remove weeds around the plant regularly.
  • Pest control: Use natural pesticides if needed.
